Details of Experience:

Mr. Bethel is one of our beloved long-term residents at Creekside. You can usually find him in our front lobby reading a book and drinking hot chocolate from our Starbucks machine! When Mr. Bethel’s hip replacement surgery was scheduled, everyone was so excited for him. He had also been not moving around, which gave him hope to regain some of his independence.

After his hip replacement surgery, Mr. Bethel was referred to Physical and Occupational Therapy at Creekside Center. Before his surgery and our therapy services, Mr. Bethel was unable to walk and complete many activities without assistance. During all of his transfers, he required max assistance. At the end of services, he only required supervision and assistance when necessary. He was also unable to walk without being dependent on someone, and now he can ambulate 150 feet without assistance! The patient was unable to complete many of the activities of daily living (ADLs) due to pain and lack of mobility, but now he can complete all of them independently! These are incredible improvements, and we are so proud of him.

As Mr. Bethel walked the halls, he was met with cheers and encouraging words from the staff. After a few laps, he was rewarded with his favorite Starbucks hot chocolate. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the therapists involved in his care, acknowledging their role in his transformation. He admitted to feeling grouchy initially, but their hard work, encouraging words, and positive attitudes helped him see the light at the end of the tunnel. His words of appreciation are a testament to the impact of their work.

Mr. Bethel has successfully completed his therapy services and is grateful for the assistance and patience he received throughout this process. His newfound independence has allowed him to enjoy breakfast outings and chocolate milkshakes with his brother several times weekly. His improved quality of life is a testament to our services’ effectiveness and our staff’s dedication. We are proud to have been a part of his journey and are inspired by his resilience and positive spirit.
