Details of Experience:

Mr. Sawyers was admitted to the community from Centennial Medical Center on July 22, 2025, following a cerebral infarction that affected the right, dominant side of his body. In simpler terms, this means he experienced a type of stroke that caused weakness and limited movement on one side, making everyday tasks more difficult and requiring extra support. Like many individuals facing a sudden change in health, Mr. Sawyers arrived feeling understandably uncertain about what the road ahead might look like.

Upon arrival, Mr. Sawyers was welcomed by the nursing team, the therapy team, social services, the concierge, and the recreation team. During his initial evaluations, it was determined that he would benefit from a well-rounded therapy plan that included physical, occupational, and speech therapy. His personal goals focused on improving his ability to dress himself, increasing safety with daily activities, and strengthening his legs to regain mobility and confidence.

Throughout his stay, Mr. Sawyer’s warm smile and positive attitude became a bright presence in the community. With the guidance and dedication of the therapy team, he made meaningful progress. He worked hard in physical therapy and was discharged home, ambulating over 200 feet. In occupational therapy, he showed great improvement from his baseline, where he initially required maximum assistance with lower-body dressing. He also excelled in speech therapy, building skills to support memory and safety in daily life.

Mr. Sawyers later shared his experience in a Google review, saying, “I would recommend this facility for rehab to anybody because they have excellent care, and a great rehab team. Brandy, Jessi, and Regine (therapists) have assisted me with using memory tasks for safety, dressing myself, and strengthening my legs. Thank you, team and staff.”

The community is truly grateful to have been part of Mr. Sawyer’s journey and wishes him continued success, health, and happiness as he returns home.
